Welcome to the August edition of TZ APAC’s Fresh Out The Oven. Here’s a rundown of the top stories of the past month – from the celebration of TZ APAC’s official brand in Asia, an adorable NFT drop, a TezAsia Hackathon update and more.
TZ APAC Announces Strategic Commitment to Asia Pacific
TZ APAC, one of the leading adoption entities supporting the Tezos ecosystem in Asia, today announced a strategic commitment to the Asia Pacific region. The commitment will build on prior successes including Tezos integration with BSN, the China state blockchain network, Tezos integration into ride hailing app Tada, and on-going collaborations with big tech companies such as IBM and Microsoft.
TZ APAC will deploy new investments in the region across business development and marketing, and launch a new strategic partnership with Tezos India to drive developer education and recruitment.
ShuttleOne accepts kUSD in its liquidity pools
ShuttleOne will be accepting kUSD as the 4th stablecoin in its liquidity pools. Liquidity pools in ShuttleOne are used to service and finance real-world businesses and individuals in their daily lives, creating the most accessible DeFi for anyone.
Kolibri (kUSD) is an algorithmic stablecoin pegged to the USD, using tez as collateral. Users issue kUSD themselves using special smart contracts called ovens. For that purpose, a tez holder creates an oven, puts in collateral, and takes kUSD. kUSD is the biggest stablecoin on Tezos network. This is the first non-ERC stablecoins accepted on ShuttleOne.

TZ APAC collaborates with Malaysian NFT artist Mumu The Stan for five-piece NFT drop
To celebrate its brand launch, TZ APAC teamed up with Malaysian digital artist Mumu the Stan to create five 1/1 adorable taco bunny NFTs, for a Twitter giveaway and auction. The gifs are a nod to the Chinese reference of the Tezos' token (tez/xtz), referred to as 小兔子, meaning 'little bunny'.
The top 36 projects TezAsia Hackathon go head-to-head on September 12
The TezAsia Hackathon, which saw over 1300 registrations and 881 hacker submissions, has now filtered down to the final 36 projects that are competing for the grand prize of $5,000 (with an opportunity to receive a follow-on grant up to $10,000).
Held in collaboration with Tezos India and Chainstack, the competition is split into three key tracks – DeFi, NFTs & Collectibles, and Tools & Wallets. The winners of each track will gain an additional $1000 in reward.
