Happy new year and welcome to the January edition of TZ APAC’s Fresh Out The Oven. As we close one year and enter the next, it’s already been an exciting few months for the Tezos ecosystem. From industry-first, high-profile events and groundbreaking partnerships, read on to see what we’ve been up to.
TZ APAC celebrates Asia’s leading digital art talent at Singapore Art Week 2022
In collaboration with Crypto Art Week Asia, TZ APAC presented Tezos NFTs: The New North Star at this year’s Singapore Art Week. Hosted by S.E.A. Focus, a showcase of contemporary Asian art, this NFT collection included works from over 15 digital artists and illustrators, all minted on the Tezos blockchain. The exhibition intended to highlight the aesthetic and cultural diversity of some of the region’s leading talent. Visitors also had a chance to experience an on-site live minting showcase designed by Singapore-based crypto artist radarboy3000.
Tezos at Art Basel Miami: in the new digital frontier, it’s no longer Human vs. Machine — it’s Human + Machine
Last month, Art Basel Miami dedicated a 2,500-square-foot exhibition space featuring NFT artworks minted on Tezos. Featuring the works of NFT and generative artists from five continents, the exhibition also included an immersive installation that interacted with visitors to create digital portraits based on an algorithm developed by German artist Mario Klingemann, also known as Quasimondo.

TZ APAC and BitPinas partner to launch the Philippines’ very first NFT minting contest on the Tezos blockchain
Home to a thriving ecosystem of NFT artists, the Philippines is fast becoming a market to watch in Southeast Asia. TZ APAC partnered with Bitpinas, the leading media platform for all things blockchain in the Philippines, to launch #tezmasPH, the country’s very first NFT minting contest. 25 artists from across the country submitted artworks depicting how Filipinos uniquely celebrate a Pinoy Christmas.
Iconic American clothing brand Gap collaborates with artist Brandon Sines to immortalize its signature hoodie as an NFT
A beloved American fashion brand, Gap made the headlines this month when it announced its collaboration with New York-based artist Brandon Sines to launch an NFT collection on Tezos. The drop marks Gap’s first-ever foray into the world of NFTs.
Sines’ iconic cartoon, Frank Ape, features in the collection which consists of four tiers of NFTs. Buyers of the “epic-level NFTs” also receive an exclusive Gap x Frank Ape hoodie IRL.
From a video game giant to the world of esports, Tezos embarks on a series of high-profile gaming partnerships
It’s no secret that the gaming and blockchain industries have their shared synergies. In recognition of this fact, Tezos announced two major NFT deals with notable names in the gaming ecosystem. First up, Ubisoft, the company behind titles such as Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance, unveiled Ubisoft Quartz this past December. The platform will allow players to earn and purchase in-game items that have been tokenized as NFTs on the Tezos blockchain.
Earlier this month, a sponsorship deal with Team Vitality, one of Europe’s leading esports organizations, was also announced. For all you esports fans out there, Team Vitality will be developing NFT collectibles, an NFT marketplace, as well as fan engagement opportunities on the Tezos blockchain. The deal is one of the biggest in the history of European esports partnerships.
NFT music app MOZIK upgrades and relaunches its app
MOZIK has relaunched its app with a new design and upgraded functionalities that will allow users to seamlessly access the MOZIK NFT marketplace and engage in NFT transactions.
China-based music app MOZIK made its start as a mood-based music recommendation platform in 2015. In less than a decade, it’s since amassed a staggering user base of 10 million listeners.
From enhanced copyright protections, greater fan engagement, and the ability for fans to directly support their favourite musicians, MOZIK is putting power back in the hands of fans and creators alike.
Charting the growth of Korea’s P2E ecosystem at METASEOUL’s 2022 Gamecon Championship
With Seoul cementing itself as one of the world’s leading blockchain capitals, discussions of NFTs and P2E gaming were abuzz at METASEOUL’s 2022 Gamecon Championship. Sumin Kwon, marketing executive, Korea, TZ APAC, spoke about the state of the P2E ecosystem on the Tezos blockchain to thousands of viewers, highlighting the advantages that Korean developers stand to gain when building on the network to join the likes of popular Tezos P2E titles DOGAMÍ and Teztopia.
Growing the Korean developer community with Nonce
To grow the Tezos ecosystem in Korea, TZ APAC partnered with South Korea’s renowned crypto-based hacker house, Nonce to host a developer meet-up, bringing together veteran developers on the network as well as newcomers looking to explore the unique offerings of the Tezos blockchain.
